VIN is a condition where pre-cancer cells develop in the skin of the vulva. Some women do not have any symptoms and the condition is noticed by a doctor during an examination. Other women have symptoms such as intense itching, soreness or pain that persists.

A biopsy from the affected area is necessary to confirm the diagnosis and help plan the correct treatment.

Sometimes VIN resolves spontaneously without treatment. Treatment options include surgical excision of the affected area and the use of Imiquimod (aldara) cream.
